Pan y Canela – the best place for coffee in San Lorenzo de El Escorial.

Pan y Canela –  a café from a movie.

Every time when my family and I visit San Lorenzo de El Escorial we came to Pan y Canela for delicious tea and cakes. But I must admit that it is not the only reason. We also enjoy coming here for their cozy interior and beautiful terrace on a tiny square overlooking fountain.  This miniature cafe is full of charm. It immediately makes you feel like home. It is truly a place from a movie or fairy tale. Located in the city center, in close proximity to the historical residence and surrounded by picturesque ancient buildings. What a beautiful spot to enjoy afternoon tea or coffee! I think every little visitor and maybe already not so little deserve one of their delicious cakes after a long walk from the station through the park.

Tips for the connoisseurs of cake:

At Pan y Canela they make all the deserts with eggs of free range chickens from the Peralejo Monastery Farm. Probably it is one of their secrets to make their cakes irresistible. Be sure to try their chocolate cake and cheese cake.

Tip for a parents:

Pan y Canela is located on  Plaza de la Cruz. This square has a picturesque fountain which attract children whose parents are enjoying the local café and bar. If you are lucky you can get a table outside, next to the fountain and look after your children while enjoying coffee with a cake or aperitivo. Children love playing by the fountain with little cars and toys. Just be careful not to lose your favorite belongings in the ancient fountain.
